Simple instructions on how to remove the lid from an LG washing machine

foto35905-1During operation, mechanical components and parts of the internal structure of the LG washing machine wear out, which leads to breakdown of the household appliance.

To get to the failed element and carry out the necessary repairs, the washing machine will have to be disassembled.

The work will go quickly and smoothly if you familiarize yourself in advance with the rules for dismantling the top, rear and front panels. We'll tell you how to remove the cover from an LG washing machine below.

How to open the top one?

It is from the top panel that the disassembly of all models of LG washing machines begins. Removing the cover provides access to the pressure switch (water level sensor), filling valve, and counterweight.

Algorithm of actions:

  1. Approach the washer from the rear panel.
  2. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove (counterclockwise) the two screws in the upper right and upper left corners of the rear panel. They are the ones that hold the lid of the washer in place.
  3. Grasping the top panel with both hands, slightly lift the lid and, pushing away from you, remove it from the body of the washing machine.
If the panel does not give in, under no circumstances should you pick at it with a screwdriver or a sharp knife (they will scratch the glossy surface of the plastic). The cover must be gently rocked from side to side, and then the dismantling attempt must be repeated.

The video will show you how to remove the top cover:

Features of dismantling washing machines with vertical loading

To get to the fasteners that hold the lid in top-loading washing machines (it also serves as the hatch door), you must first dismantle the control panel housing.

To do this, carefully lift the plastic cover with a screwdriver and then remove it from the body. Then unscrew the screws located on the sides of the washer. The central fastener is not touched (it holds the water supply nozzle).

As a rule, plastic washers are placed under the screws. During disassembly, it is necessary to ensure that these washers do not fall out of the seat. Otherwise, it will not be possible to firmly fix the lid when reassembling the washing machine.

How to dismantle the front one?

After the washer cover has been removed, you can begin disassembling the front panel.

The work is carried out in several stages. First, remove the lower part of the front cover. To do this, open the hatch hiding the garbage filter and unscrew the screws located in the corners of the niche. Then, using a flat screwdriver, carefully pick up the latches on the right and left sides of the decorative strip and pull it towards you.

To remove the top part of the front panel of an LG washing machine, it is necessary to carry out a number of sequential actions:
  1. foto35905-2Remove the detergent dispenser (press the special lock inside the tray and pull the powder receptacle towards you).
  2. Remove the control panel. To do this, unscrew two self-tapping screws (one is located in the opened niche of the powder receptacle, the second is in the right corner of the control panel).

Once all the fasteners are unscrewed, the control panel is carefully set aside (in some washing machine models, the manufacturer provides a special hook). Do not touch the wiring on the control panel!

  3. Remove the rubber cuff clamp (the element securing the rubber cuff of the hatch on the front cover). In order to quickly remove the clamp without damaging the rubber seal, you need to feel for the small spring on the steel ring of the clamp and pry it off with a flat screwdriver.
  4. Unscrew the UBL fastener, disconnect the wiring and remove the lock from the washing machine body.

The final step is to unscrew two screws on top and four at the bottom of the front panel, and then remove the cover from the washing machine body.

How to remove the back panel?

LG front-loading washing machines have a service hatch on the rear wall. It is behind it that provides access to such elements of the internal structure of the washing machine as: engine, tank, pulley and drive belt, heating element. The size of the service hatch occupies almost the entire rear panel.

Removing the back cover is easy. It is enough to unscrew all the screws located around the perimeter of the service hatch.

To prevent numerous bolts and screws from getting lost during disassembly of the washing machine, they must be cut off and put into small boxes after unscrewing. Along with the bolts and screws, a piece of paper indicating the panel for which the fastener is intended is placed in the box.

Conclusion

A little accuracy, strict adherence to the prescribed algorithm of actions and dismantling the panels from the LG washing machine will not take much time and effort.
